Nicholas SCOTT (1661-1733) and Anne NOBBS (1675-1727)

Edna OTWELL-SIM > Mary CHARNOCK-OTWELL > Eliza SCOTT-CHARNOCK > Joseph SCOTT > Gabriel SCOTT III > Gabriel SCOTT II > Gabriel SCOTT I > Nicholas SCOTT and Anne NOBBS

Nicholas Scott was christened November 23, 1661 in Welney, Norfolk, England. His parents were Thomas Scott and Elizabeth Bloomfield.  It appears he is the twin To Eliza Scott who was christened the same day.

Anne Nobbs was christened July 4, 1675 in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England.  Her parents were John Nobbs and Jane Love.  John and Jane Nobbs were married March 23, 1674 in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England.   Jane Love's parents are recorded as William and Elizabeth Love.  There are several William and Elizabeth Loves in the towns around this area.  So for now this will end our Nobbs and Love ancestors.

Nicholas Scott and Anne Nobbs were married November 9, 1697 at St. George's Church in Littleport.  They had at least 11 children: Jane, Dinah, Daniel, Elizabeth, Thomas, John, our ancestor Gabriel, Mary, Thomas, Simon and Elizabeth Jane.  (It was common for families to reuse names after children passed away.)

Anne Nobbs Scott was buried February 5, 1727 in Littleport, England.

Nicholas Scott was buried January 27, 1733 in Littleport, England.

It is approximately 6 miles from Littleport to Welney where we found many of our Scott ancestors.

St. George's Parish Church

The present Church dates back to the 15th century, although there is some evidence of 14th century work from an earlier building on the site.  The Church is dedicated to St. George, the patron saint of England and sits on an elevated site in the center of the village and dominates its surroundings.
